Original Netflix Series: Riverdale

The long awaited return of Riverdale has just hit our computer screens (available to watch on Netflix, obviously.) If you haven't seen season 1, you're definitely missing out. The show surrounds the mysterious death of Jason Blossom and the small town of Riverdale's reaction to this occurrence. It focuses on a cast of senior high schoolers and how they try to uncover this mystery that has shaken Riverdale to its core.

The series has 88% on Rotten Tomatoes, 7.8 on IMDb and 8.2 on TV.com, showing its popularity within its realm. The Netflix original describes itself as emotional and offbeat, and that is exactly what it is.

The cast members include Cole Sprouse, who is largely known for playing the role of Cody Martin in the Suite Life of Zack and Cody. His loveable nature (although he is portrayed as dark and mysterious within the TV show) as the outcast within Riverdale as the character of Jughead Jones contrasted to the character of Cheryl Blossom (played by actress Madelaine Petsch) who is made out to be the sort of 'bully' that is typically used within American high school based shows and movies, yet her character is so complex and a labyrinth of emotions and character development that she draws you in for more.

The show is suspenseful in the way the episodes are played out, each leaving you with a mystery to solve on who killed Jason within the first season. It is an engrossing show which leaves you wanting more and to binge watch it for an entire day straight (exactly what I did, to be completely honest.)

I cannot wait to see what all of season 2 has in store for its viewers and hope that it lives up to the expectations and standards that were so engaging, not to mention successful, within its first season.
