Jane the Virgin is a satirical romantic comedy about a young woman whos life changes in an instant. With 42 minute episodes, it is set out as a telenovelas ( a serial drama originally made in Latin America) which will not fail to keep you interested and hooked . It currently has 3 seasons out on Netflix with the 4th season that premiered on the 13th of October 2017.

Being the child to a teenage mother, Jane makes a promise to keep her virginity until marriage. Despite this, Jane is accidentally artificially inseminated with a strangers sperm during a doctors appointment. This brings on new challenges for Jane as now she is facing struggles she was not ready for including deciding between her baby's father, Rafael or her loving boyfriend Michael.

With all the necessities; love, loss, weird family members and drama, this show is bound to get you hooked.  As the series evolves and goes on, we see Jane adjust to motherhood and her career as a writer grow, we also see many family members who develop their own independent plot lines along the way.

The main characters include:

Jane Villanueva- The religious young girl who is keeping herself for marriage and dreams of being a writer.
Rafael Solano - The baby daddy who falls in love with Jane after hearing of the pregnancy news.
Petra Solano - The baby daddy's wife at the time of the insemination and Jane's potential worst enemy
Xiomara Villanueva - Jane's mother who had her when she was a teenager which sometimes leads to her acting younger than she is.
Rogelio de la Vega - Jane's estranged biological father who is a famous telenovela star and still holds feelings for his teenage love Xiomara.
Michael Cordero - Jane's detective boyfriend who at first is not thrilled to hear about the pregnancy news.

So whether you are team Rafael or team Michael, looking for a show with gooey romantic comedy or you just want to drool over the dreamy Rafael, Jane the Virgin is guaranteed to bring you laughs and entertain you while you stay hooked onto the show for the drama filled plot lines of each character. I give a 5/5 for fulfilling your binge watching needs.
